Two witches, one pair

The Wicked crochet doll set is Elphaba and Glinda — and it is a set that really does get bought as a pair, more than any other in the studio.

Green and pink, which sounds simple until you make them. Elphaba's green has to read as skin rather than costume, and the black of the hat and dress has to sit against it without swallowing the face. Glinda is the opposite problem: a pale doll needs contrast built into the dress or she disappears against a white shelf.

A gift for two people

These sell to friends buying one each, and to people who want both on the same shelf. Ordering them in the same size is worth doing — at matching sizes they stand as a pair, which is the point.
