Eleven villains, one shelf

The Villians crochet doll set is the studio's largest cast of antagonists: Maleficent, The Evil Queen, Cruela, Jafar, Hades, Mother Gothel, Lady Tremaine, Queen Of Hearts, Dr. Facilier, Gaston and Governor Ratcliffe.

Villains are more interesting to crochet than heroes. The silhouettes are stranger — horns, collars, capes, a hat with its own personality — and the colour schemes are deeper, which means the yarn has to hold its shape rather than drape. Most of these dolls carry a structural element worked into the stitch rather than sewn on afterwards.

Collecting them

People rarely want all eleven. They want the two or three who frightened them as a child. Each one is handmade to order in five sizes, so a set can be built one villain at a time.
