Halloween Town in yarn

The Nightmare Before Christmas crochet doll set runs to eight characters. Jack Skellington is the long, thin one that is hardest to crochet and the one everybody asks for. Sally comes with her patchwork worked into the body rather than printed on. Then there is Oogie Boogie, the Mayor, the trio of Lock, Shock and Barrel, and Zero.

The palette is the reason this set works on a shelf all year: black, bone white, purple and a little orange. It reads as Halloween in October and as a collector's set in March.

A note on Jack

A doll with that silhouette needs the proportions right or it stops looking like him. The head, the height and the narrow stripes on the suit are all worked to hold that shape, which is why he takes longer than an ordinary doll of the same size.
